Meet Our Staff
Dara B. Sorah, CPA, P.A. graduated from the University of South Florida in 1997, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and became licensed in Florida in 2002. She has worked in the public accounting field since 1997 and has extensive review, compilation, taxation, and audit experience. In 2010, she opened her own firm, Dara B. Sorah, CPA, P.A.
Dara is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Since 1995, Dara has been living and working in the Port Charlotte community. She and her supportive husband have a combined total of five children. Dara’s eldest daughter is following in her footsteps by pursuing an accounting degree from her Alma Mater, The University of South Florida – GO BULLS!!!
Dara’s passion for quality, service and ethics flows into everything she does. She continually seeks to help and encourage others to become successful in all areas of life.
Toni LaVigne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Central Florida graduating with honors. She has been preparing tax returns for over 13 years, specializing in all types of business entities. She is proficient in Corporate Tax Returns, Partnership Tax Returns, Personal Tax Returns, Financial Statements, Tax Planning, Payroll Processing and Returns. She recently earned her IRS Enrolled Agent Certification. As a graduate from Charlotte High she has worked and lived in the community for over 23 years.
Jennifer Seegers holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from Liberty University graduating with honors. She is the office bookkeeper manager and is also responsible for preparing payroll and sales tax returns, in addition to preparing Forms W-2, W-3, 1099, and 1096. Jennifer is a PTIN holder and regularly participates in CPE classes in order to stay up to date on sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, and bookkeeping requirements. She has over 20 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience in the workplace.
Jennifer spends a lot of her time working with her church, leading a group of volunteers, and teaching life groups. She spends the rest of her spare time training for triathlons, running races, and encouraging others to pursue a healthy lifestyle - physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Jennifer's most significant achievement in the area of health and fitness was training for and completing a Full IRONMAN in the fall of 2015.
Debra Baker has over 20 years of experience in the fields of bookkeeping and accounting and is a Notary Public. After working as a Controller for a small manufacturing company in New York for 15 years, she moved to Florida with her two children to be closer to her parents. She now works with our firm as a bookkeeper and assists with preparation of tax returns.
When she’s not in the office or chauffering her children between school, sports, and dance, you can find Debra in the kitchen whipping up some delicious treats to share with her family, friends, and coworkers. Debra also volunteered with the Little League Organization for over 10 years sharing in her son’s love of baseball.
Heather Lawton studied at Georgia Institute of Technology before deciding to pursue various educational and serving opportunities in Australia, Central America, Europe, Asia and Africa. She has a passion for traveling, meeting new people, seeing new places, experiencing other cultures and tasting exotic foods.
Heather has spent the majority of the last 15 years in customer service and learning the ins and outs of running a business from managing teams, formulating training programs, scheduling, managing inventory, and continually reviewing policies and procedures to ensure continued success. She is the first person our clients encounter when calling our office or arriving for appointments. She assists the rest of the staff with the processing of returns and overall daily operations of the business.
